School Budget & Elections Information
In New York state, local school boards must annually develop a balanced school budget proposal and put it up for a public vote on the third Tuesday in May. District expenses may include salaries and benefits, curriculum, staff development, facilities maintenance and operation, transportation and debt service. Revenue includes state funding, federal funding, property taxes and appropriated fund balance.
BOARD OF EDUCATION SEATS
There will be two (2) vacant seats on the Board of Education this year and both seats carry 2–5-year terms, beginning July 1, 2026,
BOE petitions can be picked up in the Central Administration Building in the District Clerk's Office located at 84 Nightengale Avenue, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Petitions are due to the District Clerk by 5 p.m. on April 20, 2026.
Nominating petitions with the signatures of at least 30 qualified district voters must be filed with the district no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 21, 2025. A candidate must be:
- A qualified voter of the district
- At least 18 years old; be able to read and write
- A resident of the district for at least one year prior to the election; and be the only member of his or her household on the school board
