Dear Massena Central School Community
We were notified today there are two Massena High School students who have tested positive for COVID 19 and one student at J. William Leary Junior High School. We are assisting the St. Lawrence County Department of Public Health with contact tracing efforts, and any students and employees who may need to quarantine due to close contact with these individuals will be notified.
Given the number of staff who will be quarantined by St. Lawrence County Public Health and mindful of the safety of our students and staff, Massena High School will be moving to all remote instruction starting Thursday, November 12th through Friday, November 20th. This includes our Career and Technical students who attend programs in Norwood. J. William Leary Junior High already moved to remote instruction earlier this week. Other than those staff members who have been contacted for quarantine, the remainder of the staff can report to work for implementing remote instruction.
We know there will be questions and concerns and while we cannot share details identifying the positive individuals, I can assure you that if you came in contact with the positive individual, you will be contacted directly by the St. Lawrence County Department of Public Health.
We will continue to work closely with Public Health to reassess the situation and will keep you informed of any changes to this plan. If you have concerns and would like to seek COVID-19 testing proactively for you or your child, there are testing sites available throughout the county. Contact information is included below.
