MASSENA CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL
This is an initial listing of supplies that will be used in the various subject areas at Massena Central High School for the 2018 - 2019 school year. We hope that this will help you prepare for the coming year. Any specific questions should be directed to your student’s teacher on the first day of school.

English I... blue or black pens, highlighters, college ruled loose-leaf paper, 2 pocket folder, composition notebook, 2” 3 ring binder with 5 subject dividers
English II... blue or black pens, highlighters, college ruled loose-leaf paper, 2 pocket folder, 2” 3 ring binder with 5 subject dividers, a 5 subject spiral ring notebook may also required
English III... blue or black pens, highlighters, college ruled loose-leaf paper, 2 pocket folder, composition notebook, 2” 3 ring binder with 5 subject dividers
English IV... blue or black pens, highlighters, college ruled loose-leaf paper, 2 pocket folder, composition notebook, 2” 3 ring binder with 5 subject dividers
IB HL I (juniors) ...A 2 inch, 3 ring binder, college ruled loose-leaf paper, two writing journals(standard black composition style 9 3/4 by 7 1/2) and black or blue pens
Creative Writing...Blue or black pens, college ruled loose-leaf paper
Film and Literature... Blue or black pens, college ruled loose-leaf paper
Sociology...Blue or black pens, single subject notebook and a 2 pocket folder
All classes – 2 inch binder, loose leaf paper, pens and pencils
French I, II & III – Tissues, colored pencils, 3 X 5 cards
French III, V, IBSLI, IBSLII – good French/English dictionary (Larousse)
Spanish I & II – 3 X 5 cards
Spanish III - three pocket folders or accordion style organizer
Spanish IV – Binder or accordion folder, flash drive
Spanish V IBSLI, IBSLII – three pocket folders or accordion style organizer, Spanish/English dictionary (I recommend Oxford)
Earth Science – Pens (no red), #2 pencils and erasers. Recommended – box of 12 colored pencils, calculator, 3-ring binder, and pocket folder. A review book must be purchased in the spring. Technology will be incorporated into class so a smartphone, tablet, or laptop may be helpful. There will be some technology provided in class as it becomes available.
Biology – 3-ring binder, loose-leaf paper or notebook, pen (no red) and pencils and pocket folder.
IB Biology – 3 inch 3-ring binder, pen (no red) and pencils, loose leaf paper or notebook, graph paper.
Chemistry – Pens or pencils, 3-ring binder, pocket folder, Scientific Calculator – Texas Instruments TI-30XIIS (non-graphing).
Physics – Pens, #2 pencils, 3-ring binder, spiral notebook, pocket folder, graph paper, book cover, ruler, and protractor. Recommended – scientific calculator. A review book must be purchased in the spring for Physics Regents.
Environmental Geology – Pens, #2 pencils, 3-ring binder. Recommended - calculator.
Exploratory Science - 3-ring binder, lined paper, pen, pencil, folder.
Forensic Science - 3-ring binder, lined paper, pen, pencil, pocket folder and four function calculator.
SOCIAL STUDIES – This is a general list. Individual teachers may request other specific items.
All classes – book covers, pens #2 pencils, highlighters, large 3-ring binder with loose-leaf paper, spiral notebooks, 5 X 8 note cards, 1” or 2” 3 ring binder.
US History and Global - 2 inch 3 ring binder w/ pocket folder and highlighters
ALL CLASSES: pencils, straight edge, loose-leaf paper, ¼ inch graph paper, and calculator (see below)
Depending upon the individual teacher’s requirements, students may need a 3-ring binder, book cover, spiral notebook, or pocket folder.
For Regents classes, the purchase of a Regents review book may be required at the end of the school year.
All students in Geometry and Fundamentals of Geometry will need a compass.
All students in Regents courses (Algebra, Algebra 1A, Algebra 1B, Geometry, and Algebra II) need a TI-84 CE or a TI-84+ graphing calculator.
All students in IB math courses need a TI-84 CE or a TI-84+ graphing calculator.
All students in elective math courses (Math of Finance, Introduction to College Algebra, College Algebra) should have the minimum of a scientific calculator capable of trigonometric functions, but the graphing calculators described above would be better.

All classes – A box of # 2 pencils.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION & HEALTH
Appropriate clothing – shorts, T-shirts, sweats, sneakers, SWIM SUIT AND TOWEL
Health – pocket folder
Sports Medicine – 3” 3-ring binder with pocket on cover, 100 page protectors, colored pencils. Must purchase Anatomy workbook at the Bookstore ($20).
Lifeguarding – need to purchase a mask ($15) and Red Cross card ($8) for certification
Concert Band/Jazz Ensemble – 3-ring 1/2” binder, white marching band shoes www.dinkles.com #2 pencils, chromatic tuner/metronome (optional but highly recommended), Smartmusic 2012 subscription required (www.smartmusic.com) – This is in place of method book.
Orchestra – 1 boxes #2 pencils, an Intellitouch tuner that connects to instrument.
Mixed Choir/Women’s Chorus – 3-ring 1/2” binder, #2 pencils w/erases
Foundations of Music– 3-ring 1” binder, #2 pencils w/eraser, small thin cork-backed ruler
IB Music – 10 CDR, 3 ring (2 inch) binder, #2 pencils
Music Theory – 3-ring 1” binder, #2 Pencils/erasers, 6” metal ruler with cork backing (Helix)
IED & CIM – memory stick (1g) and composition book.
