Massena PD helps mark Red Ribbon Week

Thirteen-year Massena police veteran Chris Flynn visited Ashley Neal's class at Nightengale Elementary on Thursday, Oct. 25 as part of the Massena Central School's Red Ribbon Week. Red Ribbon Week is a nationwide effort to combat drug use by youth.  Officer Flynn, who is also Massena's DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) officer, shared his professional experiences dealing with people under the influence of drugs. He explained that drugs often change the way people behave, making otherwise decent people break the law, harm others or do things they later regret. He also reminded students that alcohol and tobacco are drugs responsible for serious legal and health problems. As a reminder of the visit, each student received an anti-drug pencil and wrist band.
