 Volley for a cure

On Saturday, Sept. 22, the Massena volleyball team presented a check for $1,210 to Mr. and Mrs. Steven O’Shaughnessy during a brief ceremony at the Massena Central Schools Volleyball Tournament. The money will support cancer research in memory of their daughter, Kate who fell to cancer at age 22.

Kate was an outstanding Massena High School volleyball player throughout all throughout high school.  She is remembered for her talent, sportsmanship and team leadership.  Kate was diagnosed with melanoma while attending Queens University in Kingston, Ontario.  She lost her battle with cancer soon after earning her degree.

To keep her memory alive, Kate’s family and friends established Kate’s Team, a group that helps raise money to support cancer research at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Research Center through the Terry Fox Run in New York City. Learn more about Terry Fox Run or contribute to Kate’s Team online at Welcome to Kate's Team website.

The volleyball team, Kate’s family and Kate’s Team thank everyone for their generous support.
