Massena reaches contract agreement with support staff

The Massena Central School District reached an agreement with its support personnel on Wednesday, Sept. 5. when the Massena Confederated School Employees ratified a new five-year contract.

The MCSEA represents about 120 clerical, maintenance and operations, food service, teaching aide, transportation, and healthcare employees. The support staff contract calls for a 3.75 percent salary increase each year for five years, caps employee health care contributions at $600 per year, and includes a $1200 signing bonus.

“The Massena Confederated School Employees Association voted to ratify the contract.  It is a very good contract and we thank the Board of Education and the Superintendent for their work; and I would like to personally thank our negotiating team.  We look forward to a positive five years,” said MCSEA President David Page.

The MCSEA agreement follows the Aug. 28 ratification of an administrator’s contract by the Massena Building Administrators Association. The MBAA represents the district’s principals, assistant principals, and directors. The administrator contract includes a 4.0 percent retroactive salary increase, a 3.75 percent salary increase each year for three years, sets employee health care contributions at 5 percent for years 1 and 2 and 10 percent in year 3, $75 monthly toward personal cell phones used for school business, and a $1000 signing bonus.
