Medicare Part B Reimbursement

To be eligible for Medicare Part B Reimbursement, retirees who have reached the age of 65 must submit a copy of their Medicare card to the Massena Central Business Office and to St. Lawrence Lewis BOCES Health Insurance.

Reimbursements are made semi-annually around June 1st and December 1st.  Retirees should forward all inquiries and address changes to Rebecca LeBoeuf.

Medicare Part D

Massena Central School District has determined that the prescription drug coverage offered by the St. Lawrence Lewis Healthcare plan is, on average for all plan participants, expected to pay out as much as standard Medicare prescription drug coverage pays and is therefore considered Creditable Coverage. Because your existing coverage is Creditable Coverage, you can keep this coverage and not pay a higher premium (a penalty) if you later decide to join a Medicare drug plan.  Click here to read the full credible coverage letter (PDF).

Annual Asbestos Notification

According to the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA), all schools both public and private in the United States are to inform you of the presence of asbestos in school buildings.  Our building(s) have asbestos in various locations and we are managing the asbestos containing materials to insure the health and welfare of the students, staff and visitors/contractors.  Be assured that there is no situation which poses a health risk at this point and we are carrying on periodic surveillance and maintaining the material such that the chances of a fiber release are low.

Our Asbestos Management Plan, which contains detailed information, is available for your review in the MCS district office and each individual school administrative office if you so desire.
